Anthophyllite asbestos
Antophilite asbestos is a heat-resistant, acid-resistant asbestos.
Anthophyllite asbestos of grades AN-1-42 and AN-2-12 has high acid resistance. It is used in the production of acid-resistant plastics, asbestos board.
Anthophyllite asbestos consists of a mixture of fibers of various lengths and their aggregates and contains talc and magnesite impurities.
Anthophyllite asbestos is highly resistant to acids, has fragile fibers and is used in the production of acid-resistant plastics, asbestos cardboard and for other purposes.
Anthophyllite asbestos also belongs to highly heat-resistant and acid-resistant asbestos. This asbestos loses no more than 3% of its weight after calcining at 900 C. Papers made of anthophyllite asbestos surpass those of chrysotile asbestos in dielectric properties, but are inferior to them, however, in mechanical strength. So, from anthophyllite asbestos paper impregnated with a fluoroplastic emulsion, an electrical insulating material is made that can withstand a temperature of 1100 C for 5 minutes and 440 C for an expanded period time.
Anthophyllite asbestos belongs to the group of amphibole asbestos. The various grades of this type of asbestos differ in fiber length and in the presence of substances soluble in hydrochloric acid. This asbestos is not very durable, but it is very resistant to the action of various acids.

Anthophyllite asbestos is mainly used for the manufacture of acid-resistant filters and gaskets. In a composition with phenol-formaldehyde resin, asbestos is used as an acid-resistant filler. This number represents the length of the fiber.
