Paronite, sheet paronite, PON-B, PMB (ПОН-Б, ПМБ)

Paronite is a sheet gasket material made by pressing a mass consisting of asbestos, rubber and powder ingredients. Paronites are supplied in sheets with a thickness of 0.4 mm to 6 mm.

Asbestos paronite production technology:

In the production of general-purpose paronite PON, only high-quality natural rubber is used. It is no secret that today domestic manufacturers, with a shortage and high price of natural rubber, use synthetic rubber in the production of paronite. Different properties of paronite are provided by the use of different asbestos fibers. For paronites intended for severe operating conditions, where the breaking load parameter is one of the key ones, high-quality long-fiber chrysotile asbestos of group 3, 4, A-3-60 asbestos is used. The working temperature of such paronite is +350°C. For paronites to be used in less severe conditions, at lower temperatures, for example, with an operating temperature of +150°C, chrysotile asbestos A-5-65 of to group 5, 6 is used. Also, the technical parameters of paronite depend on the amount of natural rubber introduced into the mixture. In addition, giving the paronite certain technical parameters is achieved by using special additives in the required proportions in the production of a paronite mixture.

Application:

Paronite is used in the chemical and petrochemical industries, in metalworking, mechanical engineering and metallurgy, power engineering and electrical engineering for sealing and ensuring the necessary tightness of various types of joints under the influence of aggressive media, high temperatures and pressures. Our company is a supplier of special gasket materials with unique properties used in environments with concentrated acids and alkalis, oxidants and freons.

Properties:

It is the most common and versatile gasket material. The yield point is about 320 MPa. When this pressure level is reached, it begins to flow, as a result of which all leaks in the connection are filled with material and sealed. For the most effective sealing, the thickness of the gasket should be as small as possible, however, sufficient to completely fill the grooves and unevenness of the joint. When installing a thicker gasket, the likelihood of its extrusion increases, which can lead to depressurization of the connection.

Manufacture:

Paronite is made in the form of sheets up to 6 mm thickness. It lends itself easily to mechanical processing – chopping and cutting. It is quite easy to cut out gaskets of complex configuration from it. Paronite gaskets are used in areas with temperate, tropical and cold climates at an ambient temperature of -60°C. This material is not corrosive when working with anodized aluminum alloys, brass and galvanized steel with chromate passivation. For paronite and gaskets from it, the requirements of GOST 481-80 are mandatory. The weight of paronite varies depending on the thickness of the sheet, and the density is 1.8 ... 2.0 g/cm3.

The concept of maximum and operating temperature for paronite:

As for the temperature of +450°C for paronite specified in GOST 481-80, the following should be understood. The indicated temperature for paronite at +450°C is the maximum allowable short-term temperature. When a paronite gasket is exposed to such a temperature, it must be replaced as soon as possible. The use of paronite products at this temperature is not possible. Paronite consists not only of asbestos fiber, but also of rubber, which, depending on the brand of paronite, contains up to 30% in the composition of paronite. At temperature of +120ºC, natural rubber turns into a thick, viscous liquid, after which solidification is no longer possible to obtain the initial product (by the way, this is the reason for the adhesion (sticking) of paronite to the sealed surfaces). Further, if the temperature is increased to +200ºC ~ + 250ºC, the rubber decomposes with the formation of gaseous and liquid products. As for the synthetic nitrile-butadiene rubber used for the production of oil-and-petrol resistant paronites, the maximum temperature range for it is from -45°C to +110°C. Outside of this range, NBR breaks down. Of course, the vulcanization of paronite increases the temperature resistance of rubber, but not significantly. Along with this, in the technical laboratory of IFI Technical Production, paronites were tested by three leading domestic factories. Three samples were taken from the Volga region, Altai Territory and the Urals. Of the three samples, only one showed relative performance at a temperature of +380°C. For the other two samples, the maximum temperature was +350ºC ~ +355ºC.

In addition, it is known that chrysotile asbestos is completely destroyed at +700°C, at +550°C the destruction of chrysotile asbestos occurs within a year, and only when exposed to temperatures up to +400°C, the properties of chrysotile asbestos persist for a long time.

Quality:

High-quality sheet paronite is easily recognized: when the sheet is bent, it should not break or crack. We guarantee that all types of paronite supplied by Volzhsky Khimkomplex meet quality standards and have all the necessary certificates.
