Advantages of asbestos board thermal insulation
1. Fire resistance (does not burn, when heated to a temperature of 500 ° C, physical and mechanical indicators do not alter).
2. High mechanical strength. Any deformed insulation does not provide its previous insulating properties, since its original thickness is not preserved, therefore, resistance to mechanical stress is an important characteristic of a heat-insulating material. The products have high mechanical strength due to the special structure of the cardboard, which is achieved by wet molding from hydromass.
3. Alkali resistance.
4. Stable thermal insulation capacity.
5. Resistance to aging processes (the durability of thermal insulation is predetermined by the stable chemical composition of chrysotile asbestos).
6. Lack of emission of harmful substances when heated.
7. Ease of use (the technology of laying on an insulated surface does not require certain work skills and the use of special tools).
8. High adhesion to the insulated surface at wet installation
Useful properties of KAON - 1:
1. Manufacturability
Asbestos board as a building material is very technological. Laying on an insulated surface does not require specific skills and the use of special tools. One of the ways to lay asbestos board on an insulated surface is by pre-soaking. With this method, due to good adhesion to the insulated surface, after drying, the asbestos cardboard is securely fixed on it.
This method allows you to create both smooth and structural surfaces, since the moistened asbestos cardboard is very ductile and tightly "fits" all irregularities, corners, breaks on the insulated surface. After drying, the material retains its predetermined shape. The drying time after the wetted sheets of asbestos board is laid is very short, which makes it possible to shorten the duration of technological breaks before the next construction operation. Thus, non-production losses of material are reduced and the work schedule is optimized. In addition, the use of asbestos cardboard provides a number of advantages over the use of conventional thermal insulation materials:
- high labor productivity of workers - insulators;
- high and stable level of work quality;
- material does not settle in the case of its vertical arrangement in the structure;
- volume consistency;
- possibility to store for an extended period of time, including at negative temperatures;
- if necessary, a layer of adhesive can be easily applied to the surface of asbestos board.
2. Fire resistance
The most significant characteristic of asbestos board is its fire resistance..
The material does not burn out and when heated, its physical and mechanical parameters change slightly, it retains the heat-insulating ability of surfaces with temperatures up to 500°C from the external environment for a long time. When heated, asbestos board does not emit any harmful substances into the environment. The safety of use is confirmed by the hygienic certificate.
The above properties make it possible to use it as a fire-resistant, heat-insulating material.
3. Mechanical strength
Resistance to mechanical stress is the most important characteristic of a heat-insulating material, since deformed insulation does not provide its previous insulating properties. The method of wet molding from hydromass, used in the production of semi-finished board at OOO "BFAI", gives it a special structure, due to which a high mechanical strength of asbestos board is achieved.
As the practice of using the material by consumers has shown, the value of the tensile strength is not decisive when lining heat and power facilities in industrial construction, since in these structures the main structural materials resist tensile forces, and asbestos cardboard plays only the role of a heat insulator.
4. Durability
Durability of thermal insulation is largely predetermined by the stable chemical composition of chrysotile asbestos, from which the board is made. Chrysotile asbestos is a hydrous magnesium silicate with the chemical formula 3MgO-2SiO 2 -2H 2 O and the structural formula Mg 3 [Si 2 O 5] (OH) 4 or Mg 6 [Si 4 O 10] (OH) 8. Due to this composition asbestos board does not dissolve in water, is resistant to alkalis, withstands decay processes and is able to withstand high temperatures without significant changes in physical properties.
These qualities make it possible to attribute asbestos board to durable materials, the service life of which in a well-built structure and the correct use is commensurate with the service life of the basic materials.
5. Radiation safety
The use of environmentally friendly materials has become the imperative today. It is especially important to ensure the protection of people from the effects of radioactive substances in the environment of their permanent presence: in residential, administrative, industrial buildings and structures. The radiation safety of products of Beloyarsk Asbestos Board Factory LLC is confirmed by the "Radiation Quality Certificate".
Asbestos board in terms of the content of natural radionuclides is homogeneous and meets the requirements of the first class in accordance with GOST 30108-94 "Building materials and products" (effective concentration <22Bq/kg while the standard is 370Bq/kg).
Areas of use of KAON - 1
The need to reduce heat losses at industrial construction sites and heating units is determined not only by global tasks to improve the environmental situation. The transition of industry to market relations requires enterprises to reduce the cost of their products, which can significantly affect their competitiveness. Since the production of almost any type of product is characterized by a high level of energy consumption (gas, fuel oil, steam, etc.), one of the important components of the cost per unit of output is the cost reduction of any energy source. The temperature of the outer surface of many industrial heat-using objects significantly exceeds 1100°C, which predetermines the requirements for the thermal insulation. But most heaters, possessing a number of valuable properties, contain combustible components that do not allow the creation of structures with increased fire resistance, or various kinds of toxic polymer binders. This creates certain difficulties in the operation of thermal insulation products. Thermal insulation materials are devoid of such disadvantages.
Let's consider just a few examples of product applications.
Thermal insulation of industrial furnaces and boilers with asbestos board is performed in order to reduce the temperature of the outer surface of this equipment in order to reduce heat loss to the environment and improve the sanitary working conditions of the service personnel, as well as to reduce the heat loss accumulated during placing. The latter is especially important for periodically operating furnaces, since, in addition to saving heat, the inertia of the furnaces decreases, which makes it possible to reduce the duration of their heating and cooling. The use of the board as thermal insulation allows you to reduce the thickness of the enclosing structures:
- reduced volume of lining;
- labor costs for the construction and reconstruction of furnaces are reduced;
- consumption of materials for foundations is reduced due to the lightening of the aboveground part of buildings;
- due to a decrease in the volume of the lining, the useful area increases.

Use of this heat-insulating material allows to reduce the consumption of fuel and electricity, reduce the cost of heat and power equipment by reducing its capacity and increase the performance of heat units.
In addition, asbestos board is used for leveling the surface under masonry, for leveling gas and air ducts, as a heat-insulating gasket between metal casings and a lining in furnaces with a cylindrical casing, when performing expansion joints in refractory concrete and insulating columns and frame beams from lining at installation of boilers, as a leveling layer when covering the insulation of pipelines with fiberglass, for the manufacture of support devices when insulating horizontal pipelines with soft heat-insulating products, and so on.
Asbestos board is also successfully used in the manufacture of non-toxic, non-combustible, electrical and sound insulating materials in the electrical and chemical industries, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, instrument making.

In civil engineering, asbestos board is used as a fire resistant and fire-fighting material. The interest in asbestos board as a fire resisting material in civil engineering is understandable. The significance of the task of protecting buildings and structures does not require proof. Fires, even in stone buildings, cause enormous damage. When assessing the degree of fire hazard of building materials, structures and the development of fire-prevention measures, the following are being solved today:
- increase of the material's operability under fire conditions (this mainly refers to metal structures) and decrease of fire propagation,
- reduction of toxicity of combustion products.
Packing:
- by ton, on a wooden board with a metal tape strapping, as agreed with the consumer, covered with plastic wrap;
- in polyethylene bags of 40 sheets.
